<p>The prevalence of waste across oceans, forests, and urban areas has become a pressing environmental concern, with its volume increasing markedly in recent years. In numerous regions within the United States, such as California, recycling initiatives have encountered significant challenges due to the limited number of recycling centers, compounded by the cessation of export shipments of recyclables to other countries. This has resulted in a growing accumulation of waste, further intensifying the environmental crisis.</p>

<p>WasteWizard seeks to address these issues by reducing environmental pollution and improving waste management practices, thereby contributing to the protection of wildlife both terrestrial and marine. The application utilizes advanced computer vision and machine learning techniques to classify a variety of waste types—including plastics, electronic waste, batteries, metals, and biological refuse—using images captured via the iPhone camera or selected from the photo library. It provides users with guidance on proper disposal methods for each specific item. Additionally, WasteWizard offers a geographic map indicating nearby waste disposal facilities to facilitate responsible waste management.</p>
